October 18, 1:25 -3:20 p.m.

The test will be closed book.  Tables and calculators may be used.

Students will be asked to solve three out of four problems.

One problem will explore the formal properties of linear vector spaces, such as the eigenvalue problem, the properties of commuting operators, and how to change the basis.  Click the links for example problems from the notes and the homework assignments.  problems 1-5, homework 3, (6), (7)
Two problems will explore the consequences of the postulates of quantum mechanics, such as probabilistic predictions and interference effects.  Click  the links for example problems from the notes and the homework assignments.  problems 1-4, homework 4problems 1-5, homework 5, (10), (11), (12), (13), (14), (15), (16)
