Physics 522, Test 1
February 28, 1:25 PM - 3:25 PM.
The test will be closed book. Mathematical tables, calculators, and
tables of CG coefficients may be used.
Students will be asked to solve three out of four problems.
- One problem will explore the motion of a particle in a central field and
the motion of two interacting particles. In this problem the
interaction is not the Coulomb interaction. Click the links for example
problems from the notes and the homework assignments. (1),
(2), (3),
(4),
- One problems will deal with the
hydrogen atom, eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, spectroscopic notation, and
hydrogenic systems. Click the links for example problems from
the notes and the homework assignments. (1),
(2), (3),
(4), (5),
(6), (7)
- One problems will explore the
motion of the nuclei of diatomic molecules, and the vibrational-rotational
levels of diatomic molecules. Click the links for
example problems from the notes and the homework assignments. (1),
(2), (3),
(4)
- One problem will be an "addition of angular momentum" problem or
a problem involving the projection theorem. Click the links for example
problems from the notes and the homework assignments. (1),
(2), (3),
(4), (5),
(6), (7),
(8), (9)
The problems on the test will be similar to some of the linked problems.
